ANCIENT CITIES
Kayalıdere Ancient city (Castle City) : The ancient city is located inside the borders of the Kayalıkaya village which is 40 km. to the Muş city center and 20 km. to the Varto district. The ancient city is a settlement of Urartu civilization. The ruins of the Castle, Temple, Wine Cellar, Burial Grounds and small findings had been discovered at the official excavations executed in 1965. The construction date of the castle was assumed to be from the Urartu King II. Sarduri period (BC 735 - 764) and is still mostly intact. The temple has a stone floored courtyard and a bronze statue of a lion in sitting position dated to BC 17th century, buttons, arrowheads, bronze pins and arch pieces depicting lion hunt had been discovered at the city.

Religious Monuments
Ulu Mosque : The Mosque is located at the center of the Muş province and it was constructed in 979 by Şeyh Muhammed-i Magrubi.
Hacı Şeref Mosque : The Mosque is located at the center of the Muş province inside the Arslanlı Inn and was constructed in 1318 by Abdulhamit Han.
Alaaddin Paşa Mosque : The Mosque is located at the center of the Muş province and was constructed in 1700 by the governor of the province Alaaddin Bey.
Church with Bell (Surp Garabet) : The church is located at the Upper Yongalı Village of Yaygın borough of Muş province. The church was used as a “temple of fire” at the first construction period. The church was opened for the worship of Christians in the year 399 by Sasani civilization reigning the region after the period of Romans. The church lies in ruins nowadays. The church was frequently visited by foreign tourists after 1990.
Arak Monastery : The monastery is located at the Kepenek village of Muş Province. It was assumed that the monastery was constructed by Sasani civilization in 499. It was used as a The church - monastery and a shopping mall. The monastery now lies in ruins.
Meryem Ana (Mother Marian) Church: The church is located in the city center of Muş province. The exact construction date is not clearly known. Only the upper ceiling of the church had been collapsed and is open for visit.

Lakes
Haçlı (Kazan) Lake : The lake is located on the southeast of the Bulanık district and the waters of the lakes are mostly muddy. Various fresh water fish, mainly carp could be found in the waters of the lake.
Akdogan Lakes (Great and Small Hamurpet) : The great Akdoğan lake is located to the east of Varto district center and has a surface area of approximately 11 km². The fresh water fish like carp and trout could be founded in the lake. The surrounding area of the lake hosts hunting animals like beaver, wild duck and crane.
Kaz (Gaz) (Goose) Lake : This small lake is located at the northeast section of the Aktuzla locality of Malazgirt district and is a carstic lake.

History
The foundation of the city extends to ancient ages and the province of Muş had been under the reign of Urartu, Median, Persian, Byzantine, Sasani civilizations. The province of Muş had entered under the reign of Turkish civilizations following the 1071 Malazgirt Battle, had been under the dominance of Seljukian and Anatolian states for years and had entered under the reign of Ottoman Empire after the 1515 Çaldıran Battle.
